Terre di Giorgio · Stays and itineraries

Three days in Val d’Orcia in November can be just enough to change the rhythm of your week. You do not need a long list of stops: a village to explore on foot, warm thermal waters, a road winding through the hills. Here is an unhurried itinerary, with Terre di Giorgio – Villa La Palazzetta as your base.
Treat this as a starting point, to adapt to your arrival time, the weather and what you enjoy. If you have longer, leave a day unplanned: it is often when the best discoveries happen.
Spend your first afternoon getting to know the village and its surroundings. Wander through the old centre of Castiglione d’Orcia and look for views of the Rocca Aldobrandesca. Continue towards Rocca d’Orcia, where the Rocca di Tentennano rises above the houses and hills.
Leave room to linger in a square, step into an open shop and follow the changing light. If you would like to visit inside either fortress, check the latest opening hours first. Use your navigation app for the journey, selecting your exact destination for up-to-date directions.
After breakfast, head to Bagno Vignoni. Its water-filled square is worth a visit with no particular plan in mind: wander around the little village and watch the reflections change. If you would like a warm soak, choose and book one of the thermal spas in the area.
Continue to San Quirico d’Orcia to explore its old centre and Collegiate Church. Keep the day simple, with time for lunch and a walk. In November, check that the restaurants you would like to try are open and reserve your table.
If the weather is good for being outdoors, head towards Bagni San Filippo to discover the landscape around Fosso Bianco and the limestone formations of the Balena Bianca. Check current access conditions before setting off, wear shoes suited to damp ground and follow the signs on site.
Alternatively, spend the morning in Abbadia San Salvatore, exploring the village and abbey after checking visiting hours. On suitable days, you could also discover the woods of Monte Amiata. Choose a short, marked trail that suits the daylight available and ground conditions. For more inspiration, see the Monte Amiata itinerary from Visit Tuscany.
Every day can have its own rhythm. A visit to an indoor thermal spa, booked in advance, can take the place of a walk. Or shorten your tour of the villages, linger over lunch and return to your room a little earlier. For more ideas, explore our guides to Val d’Orcia.
In November 2026, the agriturismo is open with breakfast from 7:30 to 9:30 am and bar service from 3 to 7 pm, with boards of cured meats and cheeses. The restaurant will be closed and experiences suspended from 1 November 2026 to 25 March 2027 inclusive; the restaurant will reopen on Friday 26 March 2027. Breakfast and bar service are available only when the agriturismo is open.
If this sounds like your kind of break, explore the rooms and suites at Terre di Giorgio – Villa La Palazzetta. Let us know when you would like to come and how many nights you have in mind. We can start there, leaving room for the journey to unfold.
